Some of the animals within the continuum of God's Green Earth that seem 'extraordinary', but beautiful and rare, nonetheless.

Inch Worm
(Geometridae)

Basking Shark

American Bison

Giraffe

Armadillo
(Dasypus bellus)

Anglerfish
(Lophius piscatorius)

In the dim depths of the deep-sea, olfaction, hearing and the distance touch sense of the lateral line become
increasingly well developed in the fish that inhabit these areas. The eyes of most deep-sea angerfish do not develop much beyond the laval stage and, by the time the fish is an adult, may be essentially functionless. As a result, most deep-sea fish, rely principally on a lateral line system to sense the surrounding world and to detect prey. The high diversity of lateral line systems in the deep-sea fishes allows speculation of evolutionary lineages.

Giant Manta Ray
(Manta birostris Maximus)
