Making a Difference: An Inspiration

“A wise man was taking a sunrise walk on the beach. In the distance, he caught sight of a little girl who seemed to be dancing along the waves. As he got close, he saw the little girl picking up starfish from the sand and tossing them gently back into the ocean. What are you doing? the wise man asked? The sun is coming up and the tide is going out; if I don't throw them in, they'll die. But little girl, there are miles and miles of beach with starfish all along the way, you can't possibly make a difference. The little girl bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it lovingly back into the ocean past the breaking waves. It made a difference to that one, she replied. The young girl's actions represent something special in each of us. We are all gifted with the ability to make a difference.”

A simple act of making a difference.

In making a difference you don’t need to be famous, you don’t need to be wealthy, you don’t need to be brilliant, you only have the burning desire to help. Making a difference is a journey; it is a lifetime journey, however, a journey of one thousand miles starts with a few simple steps.

We see beautiful oak trees everyday, but do we bother to remember that these great oak trees, in the beginning were tiny acorns. Will you be willing to plant an acorn? Will you be the spark that starts a bonfire?  Will you light a candle in the dark? Will you keep walking until the end of the tunnel?

In a lifetime, we always have a choice. As Victor Frankl, Author Holocaust Survivor puts in.” Man must decide for better or worse what will be the monument of his existence.”

Let us get back to the Thread's Topic.

When we pray, we talk to God,... we have been taught to be prayerful...But our upbringing does not teach us to listen to God...each prayer should be followed by listening for the answer...and this is called meditation...lessons on how to focus the mind to a point that it goes blank and empty and ready to recieve, percieve and understand the answer to our prayers are available...Learn how to meditate, and discern the underlying truths of the Bible and other religions...
