City Mayor Dan Lim answered claims made by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Teofilo Baluma regarding the neglect of City Hall officials in running the Youth Detention Center (YDC) in barangay Cabawan, this city.
Lim countered during his weekly radio program “Mayor's Report†that the judge do not have the right to question his love for the youth and children, the issue being “closest to his heart,†and should instead mind how he (judge) dispenses cases involving minors
Although the RTC judge did not identify the mayor in his tirade during an interview last Tuesday over dyRD's Inyong Alagad Program, Lim took the criticism was really directed on him being the mayor and lapses pertaining to the city government is within his “command responsibility.â€
Lim took the judge's comment as retaliation to the mayor's remarks when the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) came to Bohol campaigning for applicants in the judiciary less than a month ago.
Baluma, who hears family court cases, criticized the city government for the lack of concern in the management of the youth home. (See related story on page 19)
The mayor was irked over a comment made by Baluma that the “city government does not appreciate the value of our children.â€
Lim stressed his concern for Tagbilaran children go beyond providing school uniforms, bags and school supplies. He has even ordered public school administrators to monitor the bottom 20 of each class from Grade 1 to 4th Year high school.
