Battle of Largs

In 1263, a remarkable turn of events during the Battle of Largs changed Scottish history forever. King Haakon IV of Norway had launched a massive invasion to reclaim Scottish territories, leading a formidable Norse fleet to the western coast of Scotland.
During a nighttime advance, Norse warriors attempted to sneak up on Scottish forces. One barefoot soldier stepped on a thistle, his painful cry alerting the Scottish defenders. This seemingly small incident helped the Scots prepare for and repel the invasion.
While storms ultimately forced King Haakon's retreat, the thistle became celebrated as Scotland's protector. By 1470, it had become such a powerful symbol that King James III featured it prominently on Scottish silver coins.
Two centuries later, James III immortalized the humble thistle on Scotland's coinage, transforming a prickly weed into one of the most recognized national symbols in history. 🏴 🌿

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18
