very true. in fact, they may be the best intelligence group in the world. they have accomplished things that no one else has, not even the americans... what comes to mind at the moment is how the israeli commandos with the aid of the mossad was able to rescue jewish passengers of a plane that was hijacked to entebbe in uganda back in 1979 or 1980 (am not so sure of the date) when it was still under the rule of idi amin. the israelis were able to get near the hijacked plane by taking with them on a C-130 a replica of idi amin's presidential limousine complete with a passenger in the back seat that was made to appear like idi amin, in order to fool the soldiers guarding the hijacked plane. this operation was implemented to almost 100 perfection. in the end, all passengers on the plane were rescued but the commandos suffered a lone casualty: that of their ground commander. coincidentally, this commander whose name was col. yonni netanyahu was the younger brother of an israeli politician who years later became israeli prime minister.
a few years later, the americans tried to do repeat this israeli feat when they tried to rescue the americans who were taken hostages at the US embassy in tehran, iran. the raiders (i think it was a navy seal team) could not even get near the building; their chopper crashed in the desert and everyone on board was charred beyond recognition.
