Claude Tayag's book FOOD TOUR was ajudged recently winner of the Best Culinary Travel Guide Category in the GOURMAND WORLD COOKBOOK AWARDS 2007.

Tayag will represent the Philippines in the second stage of the competition against winners in the same category from other countries for The Best in the World. Over 6.000 books in 40 languages from 107 countries competed in the Gourmand World Cookbook Fair Awards. The results will be announced by the Madrid based organization in May 2008 at the annual Gala Dinner event.

FOOD TOUR is a collection of Claude's essays from his Turo-turo column in the Philippine Star, that takes the reader on a culinary adventure around the Philippines and beyond. The reader will encounter numerous delightful tidbits of information about different kinds of regional cuisine -- their origins and evolution, seasoned liberally with lots of Pinoy humor.

As a passionate foodie and meticulous chronicler, Tayag regales us with anecdotes of Filipino delicacies and exotic eateries from Ilocos, to Mindanao, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

The book also contains many recipes and more than a hundred pen and ink drawings by the author of different foodies and places he has encountered. Published by Anvil Publishing and is available at all Powerbooks and National Bookstores nationwide.
