I must have understood you wrong sa imong text, I thought I heard you say "idiopathy." hehehe
Thanks for your input, Fr. Roel. Let me better explain to you the difference between idiopathy and homeostasis.
1. Homeostasis is the body's natural ability to maintain equilibrium , going back to a normal state either by compensating for a fall or increase in the function of another organ.
Let me better explain to you how this works in a clinical setting. Let us say we have a patient who is 55 years old , weighs 250 lbs. This patient has hypertension , which is an increase in blood pressure. Now the body will do everything it can to reduce the blood pressure. The heart's atrial tissue detects the high blood pressure , as well as the baroreceptors found in the carotid arterial arch detect this increase in blood pressure (Hypertension). The baroreceptors will send a signal to the heart to reduce the activity of the heart to resolve the pressure. The atrial tissues will also release a chemical signal called ANP (atrial natriuretic peptide), which acts on the kidneys. The ANP promotes diuresis, which is urination, in order to reduce volume and thereby reduce the blood pressure.
The coordinated activity of the carotid arch's baroreceptors, the atrial tissue, and the kidneys is an example of Homeostasis. This illustrates the body's ability to compensate one another in order to return to a state of normalcy as best at it can physiologically speaking.
2. Now, in regards to the term idiopathy, that is a term we use to describe an unexplainable event. A disease that manifests itself without explanation is called idiopathy. A disease that heals without any scientific explanation is called idiopathic.
I hope that helps.
