Oh, dear. Most illnesses caused by bacteria and parasites in food are just as big a problem now as they were in 2004.

There's been some progress, though, if you look back to the late '90s, including for a particularly severe infection caused by the bug Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli 0157, or STEC 0157, for short, according to data just out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

People catch STEC 0157 from contaminated beef -- especially hamburger -- that's not cooked thoroughly, unpasteurized milk and juices and even some vegetables, including sprouts. In about 5 to 10 percent of cases, the victims' kidneys fail. Read the harrowing tale recounted by the New York Times a couple of years ago of a hamburger that left a 22-year-old woman paralyzed from the waist down.

That's admirable. I wish I was (I know I am in my own right) a school teacher. Pero hadlok man ko sa una mag tudlo... wala koy guts as a youg person. I salute jud all the titsers... nga maoy nag form/mold/shape sa atong mga kabataan. Hep hep hooooray!!!

teaching is not bad. kung aware pa unta ko sauna nga mao ni akong linya, nag-teacher's college na unta ko sa college but then naa lagi sa utok nako nga taga bukid ra ang mukuha og pagka-teacher mao tong nag-commerce ko .. hahay pud to sauna nga nagbinolok ko hahaha

I admit ngana pod ako thinking... pilian og korsong sayon, more kay nahadlok sa challenge. But we all go through the same stage baya sa kinabuhi (gawas adtong mga brayt ug isog na daan)... 'ika nga "in God's time." Ingnon ko na lang nga "delayed development" akong guts/confidence moatobang sa akong mga gikahadlukan sa una (daghan baja hahaha). But along the road.... oh boy, how I wish I had to chance to teach somewhere.... kanang formal nga teaching ba.

good that i never heard at that time na ang mukuha ug education para sa taga-bukid kay dili cguro sad ko mukuha,hhehehe.i took up commerce first kay ako auntie man nagpaskwela nako kay sayang daw mga books if dili na magamit.for more than a year of studying the course,dili man jud nako kaya kay mas love jud nako ang magteach. i always love to be in front of the people. when i shifted to education, mas ganahan nako kaau magtuon.

before i got married, i had nearly 13 years of memorable teaching career. up to now, i have contact with most of my students from ormoc and cebu. teaching is really a fulfulling job esp if students are grateful with the things you taught to them.honestly,gimingaw na jud kog tudlo.

Hubs,dili man sad ka hagbong dayon kay naa man baya sad tay basihan but maybe ubos lang iya grade sa character. basin maquestion na nuon ang teacher na nihagbong ang bata even if arangan ug utok.

i agree with u nga very fulfilling kaayo.. at first, ming apply ko pagka-teacher diri because of money kay daku man pud ang sweldo plus super nindot ang benefits but then sa pagkakaron, its not about the money but love na nako akong work... i always look forward sa mga classes nako mao to naka-conclude ko nga teaching is in my blood...

i had an intelligent student in ormoc na dagko kaau grades sa academics pero wala gihapon sya na honor kay line of 7 man iya character.

btaw,basta love na btaw nimo ang work, money is not an issue anymore.

Kay wa man ma school teacher... sa school of life na lang ta mo teach; influencing others to hopefully live the right path
