Free dialysis up for Iloilo City’s indigent residents
ILOILO CITY, Dec. 28 (PNA) -- The city government here is making available free dialysis to indigent residents once the coverage of their membership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is already exhausted.
The all-inclusive dialysis was signed between the city government and the Freemont Renal Care Medical Services Wednesday for the provision of an inclusive dialysis sessions starting today. It will cover 277 sessions amounting to Php3,600 per session.
“This is the program of the city government to provide free dialysis to indigents,†Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said, adding that it was Dr. Bernard Caspe, the city health officer, who pushed for its realization.
The dialysis will be done at Freemont although patients are advised to ask for referral from the City Health Office (CHO) and the City Social Welfare Office (CSWDO) to avail of the service.
Mabilog also assured that the city government will provide funds once the package is already exhausted.
The dialysis procedure done in private hospitals usually costs around Php5,000 to Php6,000 while the city’s project is totally free given the special package provided by the Freemont.
“This is another breakthrough as far as the health program of the city government is concerned aligned with the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte,†Mabilog added.
Aside from the free dialysis, the city government also hired an internal medicine specialist, a neurologist and a physical therapist in preparation for the stroke clinic that will start to operate next month. PNA)
