I have just obtained an info from the DENR. The truth is that what the mayor had told the DENR that they would prone the trees. Later the DENR was surprised upon inspection that the mayor had cut all the trees, young and old, for no reason at all. Later we know the mayor just wanted her new public market be seen by all. One acacia tree was spared from the heartless massacre because the mayor could no longer find a brave soul that she could hire to cut the trees. The one who cut the giant tree mysteriously died the day after he cut that century-old tree.

If you go to Guindulman, you'd find that no soul was happy with the heartless decision of the mayor.

Can it be that, perhaps, some people are driven to politics due to their sense of guilt or inadequacy in relation to their erstwhile professions? That their basic ineptness decrees their bungling their efforts to uphold their "legacy" in the process?

During the 1900's up to 20's my grandfather the late Rufino Sarmiento was a 'kapatas' (foreman) of a survey team that paved the way to construct major roads of Bohol. My late grandmother told me that it was my grandfather's initiative being superstitious to replace fallen trees with Acacia Trees planted beside the new road they built.

I believe those were one of my grandfather's trees. Those were sacred to me.

Karon pa ko kahibaw nga namatay diay ang gaputol sa kahoy. On the scientific point of view dili ko mo to-o anang mga ingkanto pero nakabasa ko sa una nga ang mga kahoy dunay defense mechanism nga mo buga or emit harmful gases or chemical kung ma threatened or harmed. Kini nga mga gases na identify sa usa ka scientist nga maka cause ug hallucination. This explains nga daghang incidents nga nabuang ang gapotol sa kahoy ug ang ilang ika explain nga gihilabtan sa ingkanto. Pero siguro naka ginhawa to sila sa defense mechanism sa kahoy nga iyang gi buga.

Ang mga tao sa una superstitious man kaayo apil na adto akong Lolo nga maoy nagtanom ani nga mga kahoy. Hmm. You sounded like you are a vegetarian. But that is good if you are. I remember as a child in elementary, that I use to sit under the shade of a large acacia tree to eat my lunch of rice and fish, and enjoy its massive shelter. I did have time to visit that tree after 40 yrs and it is still there. Much bigger and proud to give shelter to the next generation.

It has come to fore that these officials take the public office and the public trust as something of a POWER that they can use to impose their capricious will. As a member also of the print and broadcast media, I cannot allow these. I am sure true blooded Boholanos share the same sentiment that I do.

I may cry a river in the things happening all around us today but that could not help. This wanton disregard of our historic past must be stopped.

I am to file administrative and criminal cases against these officials and authorities of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) who conspired in these unlawful acts.

Your moral support will be my strength that will lift me up to go on. Perhaps, if not now, our children and the next generation will remember us, that we made all efforts to prepare a better world for them in their time.

There are 49 signatures in the petition initiated on May 3, 2010 from different parts of the world. I will forward an initial report of this petition to DENR asking for investigation and also to Bohol officials.

Kitang mga pinoy dili ta manundog sa west nga moangay mag sunbathing mao ang ilang mga park walay mga kahoy. Ang atong panit sensitive kaayo sa sunlight ug nagkinahanglan ta ug shade. Dark ang atong skin pigmentation compara sa mga caucasians, mao kusog mo absorb ang UV ug dali ra ta masakit ug skin cancer.

I can help in drafting the mechanics of implementation, from the grass root levels up to the Mayor level, including sources of funding schemes, of course the planting materials. Maybe a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) can be executed by TB, the LGU and DENR.

All we need, is a project proposal, submit to SB and once approved by the SB, we negotiate with DENR for the provisions of planting materials.
In order to have a legal representation of the TB or a personality to enter into an agreement, there must be an AdHoc committee that serves on interim capacity to negotiate.

It is like forming a formal organization.

There is no need for credit, once the TB spearheads the campaign it is TB. Reforestation or tree planting is only one of the many service projects that TB can do should we unite ourselves.
