Tricycle drivers and operators here in the city have formally filed a petition at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) asking for another P1 increase on the minimum fare.

The Tricycle Drivers and Operators Alliance of Tagbilaran (TRIDOA) explained that they had to cope with increases in the prices of gasoline even with the increased provisional minimum fare of P7 granted to them last month.

TRIDOA chair Kenneth Menoza said an additional P1 is reasonable as the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has also granted a P1 increase to public utility jeepneys and multicabs.

"We hope that the city government will also consider our petition and craft a new ordinance for a new minimum fare," Menoza said.

The petition was formally referred to the SP committee on public utilities chaired by Kag. Nerio Zamora II during last Friday's regular session.

Feesably it does not cost as much to operate a lighter utiliied motor vehicle as opposed to the Jeepney og multi-cab.
I live here and I personaly find some tricycle drivers lazy.
Many do not want to go to far from the city to service places that multi cabs do not go on.
They follow you in the city harrasing you to ride with them and it is getting annoying when I almost have to walk past all the dogs almost mile to the LTO frm my gate or often further maybe to Camp Dagohoy just to catch a tricyce I am irritated untill no end!
I often pay P15 or more for one rider as it is.
My most favorite about tricycles is it is hard to feel sorry for them when they are choosy to pick who and where they want to go when it comes to service?
It does not make me feel to much looy for them.
Have you ever passed a pool/biiliardhall in the afternoon and seen all the parked tricycles outside and the drivers are inside drinking beers some times even drinking hard liquer just before they go to pick up the students at school!

I really have to think of the reality as well as the sittuation at hand.

ok ra man nang magpasaka ug plete ngadto sa tag 8 pero dili na sila mamili ug pasahero. usahay mo over charge pa nya di pa jud mohatud kung layo. hilas man pud ning mga tricycle driver sa tagbilaran. akoy dan lim, wagtangon ko nang mga tricycle diha pulihan nako ug multicabs. mas dili pa masamok ang tagbilaran siguro. ang usa ka multicab gud, equivalent na na ug 4 ka tricycle. nya murag taas pa ang dagan nya dili pa kaayo kuyaw. bisan tuod ug medyo gagmay ug dan ang tagbilaran, mas ok pa ang multicabs. maanad ra jud na madugay ang mga tawo.

Na unting na ni karon imbis na asenso, mo atras na hinuon ta. hehehe Kinahanglan fearless jud unta ang mga tawo to report people in the government who accepts grease money. I agree with you guys na kining atong mga tricycle drivers, although not all, spoiled na kaayo. Even way back then kadtong naa pa ko sa Tagbilaran, within city zone ra gud unta to didto sa Ice Plant further down Coca Cola building where my grandparents lived, dili mosugot mga tricycle drivers kon dili higher fare ang ibayad. Syempre kon late at night na, wala na kay laing choice but to agree to their terms and at times igo2x ra jud ang money, maglakaw na lang jud tawon mi adto pauli. Night school ko sa UB so by that time maka abot ko adto sa balay, ning pito na ang siren sa Coca Cola - meaning lampas na alas 10 sa gabii. Imagine, bisan tua ra didto naglingkod sa likod sa driver, same lang gihapon gud bayad or kon bisan naa ka nag lingkod anang gamatoy na lingkoranan in front of the two passengers na very uncomfortable, same pa gihapon jud ang pamasahe.

Philippines has big cities like Cebu and Manila but I am wondering why the government can't afford to own buses/transport vehicles nga maka iban-iban na lang unta sa kalisud nga gihambin ni Juan dela Cruz? Unsa man ang gibuhat sa atong gobyerno nga mura man ug wala ma regulate ang presyo sa mga palaliton? Unsaon na man lang tawon ni oi.

Ang plete sa St. Jude gikan sa among bukid paingon sa Tagbilaran is 25 pesos lang unya ang plete sa tricycle ug multicab tag 2.50 pesos. Sa dihang ming college ko, naunsa bang pagkaunsaa nga ang plete sa St. Jude 75 pesos na man unya ang tricycle ug multicab tag 6 na. Wala ko'y umento sa allowance gikan ni mama ug ni papa kay wa man pu'y umento ang ilang income. Gani, ming kunhod man ang abot sa gamay namo nga umahan. Ingon ni mama ug ni papa, "Agwanta lang dong kay asa ra man ning tanan pohon." Agwanta gyud intawon...

grazie: tricycle drivers in tagbilaran are really a different breed and i agree with you that these people are spoiled. i have been to many towns and small-town cities all thoroughout the philippines and believe me, tricycle drivers in tagbilaran are a different breed and they have a distinctive behavior that cannot be found anywhere else: (1) when there are several people trying to get a ride in their tricycles, they will always accomodate those that come in a duo, and woe to you if you are alone; (2) they ask for more money if your destination is beyond 1 kilometer even if the minimum distance covered by the minimum fare is 4 or 5 kilometers; (3) when they don't want to give you a ride, they just pass you by and won't even look in your direction, acting as if they didn't see or hear anything from you; (4) they don't observe traffic rules and road courtesy that often results in heavy traffic; (5) Etc., etc., etc... but do you know why these critters are spoiled (and lately have grown to be more arrogant)? it is because our city government allows them to!!! Yes, it is the city government which is responsible for getting its tricycle drivers spoiled! it is the city government which issues certificates of conveyance to legalize their operations and yet it is not doing its regulatory functions. on top of that, tagbilaran city has approved different rates for different destinations at certain times of the day! can you believe that? in all other places in the philippines, tricycle rates are UNIFORM within specified minimum distances regardless of destination or time. tagbilaran is probably the ONLY city in the philippines that have a so-called minimum rate and then specifies another rate going to and from the pier whose rate differ according to the time of day. obviously, this is a special treatment given by city hall to drivers that is designed to gain their- and their families' votes.

Tricycle fare is back down to PhP6.00 plus depending on kilomitre.

Multi cabs and jeepneys are at 7-8 piso's plus depending on extra kilomitre.

Ang mga kasagaran naghimo ana dili maoy mga tag iya mismo sa maong tricycle kon dili mga nang giabang lang. Dapat kanang tinud anay nga naginabuhi ug tag iya mismo maoy mag operate kay dili man mag abusar. Wala na ako masayod Tess kon unsay situation sa mga tricycle driver karon diha but 30 yrs. ago i was a driver/ owner of a tricycle. Duha ka manghod nako nga lalaki nakahuman sa college kay mamasada inig human sa klase. Sa ako nang gipaabangan ug lain nga driver didto magsugpd ang problema maong wala dangti ug tuig akong gibaligya apil ang linya ug unit.

duna say mga pasahero nga mga abusado ug dili magtarong ug sulti kon asa magpahatud. inig abot sa destinasyon moingon sa unahan ug gamay dong, unya niabot nag usa ka kilometro ang lapas mao gihapon ibayad.

kon ako pasahero akong klarohon asa ko adto ug kon pila ang bayad. kon maayo ang serbisyo sa driver ako pang dugangan ang akong ibayad.

in my vocabulary, tricycle drivers -- and particularly tricycle drivers in tagbilaran -- belong to the same category as mosquitos, rats and cockroaches. tinuod gyud kaayo nang imo gisulti, day raquel. next time you ride in a tricycle and they refuse to take you to your destination, ayaw pagnaog maski panaogon ka and tell the driver to take you to the police station. pagabot nimo didto, you can report the driver right away and file a complaint para motagam na sila. all the things that they do are violations of the certificate of conveyance that are issued to them by city hall.... on another note, mo amen gyud ko sa si kinsang city official nga maka disciplina aning mga trycicle drivers sa tagbilaran.

hadlok na sila ug di na botaran sunod. kadugay na aning maong mga reklamo pero wala jud nakapuhag ani nila. kung akoy mahimong mayor sa tagbilaran. cancel tanang franchise sa tricycle. pulihan nako ug multicabs aron hapsay tan-awon.

From Tagbilaran Pier to near by desyinations will run you from a minimumof 40.00 piso and up depending of skin color and nationality.

So if your a Pinoy or a Pinay stop complaining your fare is still way less then mine will ever be!

Foreigners are particuraly angry about this double pay treatment that we get here in Philippines not just in Bohol.

I have vollunteerd space and time in my column space in the newspaper's that I write in and nothing is done about the bad habitys these drover's are imposing on they're passanger's.

Mayor does not care about much it seems like this past few months.

Tricycles must be remove in Tagbilaran City, they are abusive, whenever IÂ´m in Cogon they refuse to drive me to Booy if IÂ´m alone, they demand a double fare. This form of transportation is obsolete, they donÂ´t have manners especially in the companion of a foreigner, they have the tendency to think of dollars. Apeke ka sa nga kahon ug maleta ma-blackmail ka.

I feel your pain, Manay Tess. Back then when I was still in high school in Tagbilaran, didto dapit sa Bohol Ice Plant ug Buwangan ang balay sa akong mga Lolo ug Lola, lisud jud kaayo manakayan gikan sa UB to my grandparents' house kay mo lingiw ra man ang mga drivers kon mo ingon na'g dapit sa Ice Plant. Naay uban mo entertain pero mangutana pa lagi ug pila akong ihatag nila! Dapat unta kuhaan ni sila'g license kon di mag tarong ba kay dapat walay pili. I don't know if pareho pa ba kay naa naman taxi karon na tawgan lang and so far mura'g wa pa man ningbalibad sa among call bisan tua mi sa Manga.
