The next biggest cataract-surgical mission is set on July 17-24, 2008 in time for the Sandugo celebration.

It is sponsored by the provincial government thru Gov. Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar F. Herrera and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan thru Health Committee chairman Dr. Cesar Tomas “Yul” Lopez, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) thru Chairman Sergio O. Valencia and PCSO Area Vis/Min Supervisor Mr. William Malicsi, the Philippine Jaycee Senate – Bohol thru Pres. Atty. Rolando Butalid and Vice Pres. Atty. Jose V. Torralba.

The venue will be at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, courtesy of Chief of Hospital Dr. Nenita Moraga-Po, M.D.

Mrs. Fancy S. Baluyot, Consultant for Health and Social Services advised that the Philippine Gift of Life and its officers and members of the Board of Trustees thru Chairman Dr. Ramie Cadag, Vice Pres. Rev. Fr. Victor Bompat, the PGMA Outreach Team, Philippine Academy of Medical Specialists (PAMS) thru Dr. Federico A. Malubay and PAMS Bohol thru Pres. Ruel Relampagos and the Hildegarden ’89 thru Pres. Joseph S. Alagon, the Home Reach Foundation thru its Chairman Dr. Pepe Recitas, Co-Chairman Dr. Ramie Cadag and Director Richard Uy and the Department of Health (DOH) thru Sec. Dr. Francisco Duque and Asst. Sec. Dr. Elmer Punzalan will be coordinating on this great mission.

Atty. Tomas D. Abapo, Jr. Provincial Administrator said this humanitarian project is also being supported by the three congressmen Rep. Edgar Chatto (1st), Rep. Roberto Cajes (2nd), Rep. Adam Relson Jala (3rd), the League of Municipalities-Bohol Chapter thru its President Jagna Mayor Exuperio Lloren, and the Association of Municipal Health Officers (AMHOP) thru Pres. Dr. Arnold Cagulada.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot added that the indigent beneficiaries will come from the 47 towns and one city of the province. The target number of cataract cases is expected to reach 1,000 and the consultation and examinations at 6,000 patients.
