The Provincial Government announced the incoming Surgical Medical Dental Mission as one of the main highlights during the celebration of the 2009 TBTK. The Foundation is chaired by Betty Garcia and the TBTK Medical Surgical Mission is headed by Dr. Anita Cal Jackson.
Fancy S. Baluyot, Consultant for Health and Social Services and President/CEO of the Philippine Gift of Life bared that the humanitarian mission is sponsored by the Provincial Government of Bohol headed by Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar F. Herrera and the TBTK Foundation thru chairman, Garcia and Dr. Anita Cal Jackson assisted and supported by the Philippine Gift of Life headed by Baluyot and vice president, Rev. Fr. Victor Bompat; Home Reach Foundation thru chairman, Dr. Pepe Recitas, co-chairman, Dr. Ramie Cadag and Director Richard Uy; Department of Health thru DOH Secretary, Dr. Francisco Doque III and Assistant Secretary, Dr. Elmer Punzalan; City Government of Tagbilaran thru Mayor Dan Neri Lim, Vice Mayor Antonio Veloso and Deputy Mayor Marlito Uy; Congressman Edgar M. Chatto; Congressman Roberto Cajes; Congressman Adam Relson L. Jala and Holy Spirit School Elementary Class 1977 thru Joseph S. Alagon.
Provincial Board Member Tomas Cesar Lopez M.D., SP health committee chair and Provincial Health Officer, Reymoses Cabagnot, M.D. bared that on July 20 to 24, surgical mission will be at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.
The surgical team is headed by Dr. Zaldy Buac and Dr. Edgar Pizzaras with Dr. Ted Nicholoff, Dr. Melba Arribas, Dr. Nestor Guerrero, Dr. Benny Buslon, Dr. Ida Tiongco, Dr. Pepe Recitas, and other diplomate and fellow surgeons of Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.
Cases to be attended are goiter/thyroid, gall bladder, breast cancer, ovarian/myoma, anorectal and hernia among others.
Likewise, Provincial Administrator Tomas D. Abapo, Jr., co chair Provincial Medical Surgical Mission Committee, likewise added that cataract operation will be conducted on July 20-21, 2009 at the Medical Mission Group of Hospital and Health Social Cooperative thru Medical Director Dr. Benjamin Galia. Said mission is headed by Dr. Federico Malubay of Philippine Association of Medical Specialist (PAMS). This is also one of the highlights of 155th Bohol Day Celebration.
Baluyot and Dr. Jackson likewise advised that the Medical/Dental consultation with distribution of medicines will be done at the Bohol Cultural Center with estimated 4,000 beneficiaries from different towns of Bohol and City of Tagbilaran.
It will be assisted by Bohol Medical Society (BMS) thru President and Doctor Teomaria Jesim, Dr. Mary Ann A. Ruiz, Chairman Committee on Medical Mission, Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP) thru Dr. Jude Doblas, private practitioners and Philippine Nurses Association among others and from other volunteers abroad and other Provinces, Philippine Health Office and devolved Hospitals.
Baluyot added that Surgical Medical Mission volunteers must be registered officially for proper credentials at the office of the Health Consultant and at the Office of the Philippine National Red Cross Bohol Chapter thru Administrator Nenita Briones who is a member of the Provincial Surgical Medical Mission Committee.
