Solar power units installed in 11 Bohol schools
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:26:00 AM »
A total of 11 public schools in Bohol have been installed with two-kilowatt solar photovoltaic systems by the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and Swiss financial services company UBS in a span of three years as part of the firms’ education-related advocacies.

Meralco, through its social development arm One Meralco Foundation (OMF), and UBS installed the systems in schools located in remote islands and mountainous areas that are off electric grids.

On Monday, OMF president Jeffrey Tarayao and UBS associate director and compliance officer Nina Aguilar met with Gov. Edgar Chatto to discuss the ongoing project.

In the past three years, the OMF’s school electrification program has benefitted the following Bohol schools:

Cabul-an National High School at Cabul-an Island, Buenavista and Pandanon National High School at Pandanon Island, Getafe in 2013; Cataban Integrated School at Cataban Island, Talibon; Cuaming Elementary School at Cuaming Island, Inabanga in 2015; Nocnocan Elementary School at Nocnocan Island, Calituban Elementary and High Schools at Calituban Island, Talibon; Bilangbilangan Daku Elementary School and Ponciano L. Padin National High School at Bilangbilangan Daku Island, Malingin Elementary School at Malingin Island, Bien Unido in 2016.

Since the launched of the OMF’s school electrification program, 170 schools across the country have been provided the alternative power source.

As part of the program, the foundation also donated multimedia equipment to the schools as alternative learning medium for students.

Learning cards, which teaches various subjects such as math, history English and values education, among others, were also turned over by the OMF to teachers.

The learning cards were developed by 37 teachers including Boholanos Armand Lagria of Bilar National High School and Arnel Bautista of Canagwa National High School in Buenavista

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
