Pres. Gloria Arroyo to Visit Bohol
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:26:12 AM »
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo chooses the academe and tourism sector as audience in his first official visit to Bohol this election year on Wednesday.

Appointments Secretary Bong Joves of the Presidential Management Staff and Jimmy Mangulabnan of the Office of Regional Concerns and out-of-town affairs of the President confirmed Arroyo’s visit on Friday as the governor was on his way to Inabanga cultural center for the launching of STARS project in the town and to inaugurate school buildings in three barangays there.

The President is expected to arrive at 3 p.m.m on Feb. 24 to meet students of different universities and colleges of Bohol at the Holy Name University Quadrangle, in Tagbilaran City, to discuss tourism and allied projects on Bohol’s economic development.

Governor Erico Aumentado set a meeting with representatives of the tourism, sector, academe, Philippine Army and provincial officials at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Governor’s Mansion for the preparation of the President’s visit.

The Philippine Army, through its Engineering Support Battalion based in Tubigon, has been tapped in constructing school buildings implemented through the governor’s convergence strategy that involves contribution from the President’s Kilos Asenso and the Department of Education, and counterpart from the provincial government.

Aumentado will discuss the details of the President’s visit during the meeting with Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap; Assistant Provincial Treasurer Primitiva Ontong; 802nd Brigade Commander Col. Alan Luga; Special Forces Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Alfredo Sanchez; Provincial Police Director Anthony Lao-Obenza; Provincial Tourism Council president Lucas Nunag; Provincial Administrator Handel Lagunay; Peter Dejaresco of the Bohol Chronicle Radio Corp.; HNU president Fr. Francisco Estepa; University of Bohol president Victoriano Tirol Jr.; Salvador Diputado of the BIT-International College;

Bohol Island State University president Elpedio Magante, NYC Commissioner Benjie Oliva, Engr. Junin Caberte of the Provincial Engineer’s Office, Provincial Tourism Officer Jo Cabarrus, Bohol Association of Hotel, Restaurants and Resorts (BAHRR) president Jun Caturza, and 1st Dist. Rep. Edgar Chatto. (PNA)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

There should be a provincewide protest and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan should declare her a persona non grata in Bohol

exactly... if wala pa lang kabahin ang uban sad nga mga officials, taktak naman jud unta sila.

@mdb - yes many were involve sama sa gisulti ni nat-cast.  If you check how many retired military officials (active service sa panahon sa issues) karon nga naa sa gobyerno, from secretary down to regional directors sa mga departments.  Mas daghan pa gud kaysa sa time ni Ramos.

Most LGU officials nga ni nunot ni Arroyo has also their shares.  EBA, ngano kaha daghan siya ug nasungkit na pundo for projects?  Cajes, utro sad, apil-apil pa sa inquiry.

Now Now Now! This province is considered the most religeous and the most hospitable province in the nation mao ba?

Is it not out of line to be talking so hateful of thy neighbor? Doesn't the bible say "Love thy Neigbor" I can think of plenty who have done way worse than her majesty and have gotten away with murder at times compared to her.

She certainly has had a few trips to America many times this past couple of years....

And also other places as well. I do not listen much to the radio or do I have cable television right now and I am sort of content about it as I am tired of the same bitching day to day about the same wind and grind that they do in Philppiines.

people in Philippines need to stop being so hadlock regardless and do what is right to stop the nonesense there.

She flew to Bohol perhaps to remind us, lest we forget, that the roads and ports, and Bohol having shown up in the world tourism map, happened during her presidency.

It's a pity GMA's much-vaunted infrastructure projects did not earn her popularity, and she's going down in history as more hated than Marcos, if opinion polls are to be believed.

She thought that maybe Bohol, who voted her to the presidency, will listen to her swan song. Or perhaps she just needs to show that the lame duck still flies.

Bay Ben, it would appear that she looks at herself more as a phoenix who, from the ashes of her dung-daubed decrepit political corpse, will rise to proclaim a glorious Third Reich to last a thousand years.

Come to think of it, Gloria is really stuck in an awkward place now. This peripatetic president has already overshot her travel budget in foreign travels.

When she bragged in her last SONA how those travels have in fact boosted investments and GNP, the onslaught of Ondoy and Peping, not to mention the downward spiral of the global economy, has all but wiped out those economic achievements.

She has come to terms with being the most unpopular president, saying "my job is not to be popular" but to work even if it means making unpopular decisions. But as an economist, she certainly wishes history will remember her kindly for her economic achievements. Her provincial jaunts don't really mean much now for administrative candidate Gibo, since her endorsement has been shown to be "a kiss of death" for any presidential wanna-be.

At this point in her lame-duck presidency, only a trip to Pampanga will give her political payoff since she needs the local votes there. Why travel to Cebu and Bohol? She still hangs by the thread of hope that Cebu and Bohol (along with Ampatuan's Maguindanao), that clinched her votes in the last elections and benefited immensely from her infrastructure spending spree, will help her consolidate her legacy.

Pathetically, GMA's greatest fear is that people will forget her even before she vacates the presidency.

A fear reminiscent of another legacy-obsessed president who came and went not too long ago. Parallels are, indeed, too numerous for comfort.

hinaot unta nga magpadayon na ni nga trend.  makahahadlok gyod ni si villar.  nagduhaduha pa hinoon ko ni noynoy.  kuyaw pod si mar roxas tungod ni korina.  di lalim ang batasan aning bayhana.  molabaw pa unya ni imelda.  ay, ambot.  anyway, a national leader should inspire as he leads.  it is up to him/her to get the country's best and brightest to run the daily nitty-gritty of bureaucracy.  his credibility is paramount.  noynoy may not be as inspiring as his mom, but villar is a monster of ambition.  we cannot be led by his wealth, part of which he had already spent in his quest for the land's highest office.  we can't be too sure that he won't do his damnest to get it back once he holds the reins of power.  remember c-5, for starters!  self-made man kuno siya.  no sirrreee, he is cynthia-made.  tigmo:  napalit ba kaha ang mga lakas-kampi nga nag-np sa bohol ug nakakita lag mapahiran sa hugaw sa ilang pagluib, sama sa usa ka ginganlan ug chatto?  just asking.  the ways of politics are laden with dirt.  someone in the province is holding the puppet strings.  this someone had been the ultimate slippery politician since the 1970s, when chatto and relampagos were still in high school.
