Health starts in the home, and with the Bohol provincial government it starts in the Provincial Capitol.
As an off-shoot of the provincial government’s Health and Wellness Program,
wellness tests will be conducted for all officials and employees of the provincial government beginning tomorrow, on Governor Edgar Chatto’s birthday, until Friday and from February 28 until March 5.
In line with the Chatto-Lim Administration’s strategies embodied in the acronym LIFE HELPS and also a main thrust of the Civil Service Commission, health and wellness in government is seen to ensure that all provincial government officials and employees are in good health and can effectively and dutifully render public service.
The wellness tests will be administered by the Bohol Medical Care Institute (BMCI) and are coordinated by the province’s Human Resource Management and Development Office.
HRMDO head Josefina Relampagos reported that the tests comprise of the following examinations: urinalysis; CBC; total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol; triglycerides; BUN and BUA; creatinine; SGPT and SGOT; FBS; chest X-ray; and ECG.
For most of the examinations, blood and urine samples will be required. Further, those who will avail of the tests are advised to undergo from ten to twelve hours of fasting, including liquids, prior to the examination.
On an appointment basis, said officials and employees may also choose one of the four dental services available: oral examination, tooth extraction, cleaning, or paste.
The chest X-ray, ECG, and dental services will be administered at the BMCI facility, along J.A. Clarin in Dao District, but not later than March 12.
From Monday to Wednesday, the tests will be conducted at the Old Provincial Capitol Building’s second floor lobby, adjacent to the HRMDO office and, on all other dates, at the BMCI. - Edcom
