Aiming for another national peace accolade, Bohol may have a good chance of bagging the 2006 Best Provincial Peace and Order Council award, a ranking police official here in the Visayas said.
National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Director Bernardo Calibo, who accompanied the national team which did the on the spot evaluation and validation last week said the Presidential citation for success in counter-insurgency is enough factor that could boost Bohol’s efforts.
It may be recalled that during the Local Peace and Security Assembly here in Tagbilaran, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo cited the convergence approach on poverty alleviation as a counter-insurgency strategy in Bohol as a national template for anti-rebel operations.
The search however uses implemented peace programs by the council
Bohol once won the 2004 peace plum and a win for2006 would be a morale booster for peace advocates here who have remained enthusiastic about setting the peace tone for progress and development to root.
Now already a finalist in the national search’s province category after topping the regional search. Region 7 on the other hand is also batting to be the country’s over-all regional winner.
