Amid confirmation that the armed units of the communists have already fled to neighboring provinces, the military forces here have readied themselves for any resurgence of the rebels' operation in the province.
In his report before the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Maj. Ed Malig-on, representing Brig. Gen. Alan Luga of the 802nd Brigade, identified the current threat as the expected resurgence of the communist armed units "to embarrass the military for declaring Bohol as "insurgency-free."
"We are ready for the threat," Malig-on declared.
The first PPOC meeting Monday came simultaneous to the turnover of the Special Forces command at its base in Riverside, Bilar, from Lt. Col. Alfredo Sanchez to Lt. Col. Romeo Brawner Jr., former spokesperson of the AFP. - bohol chronicle
Brig. General Roberto Morales administered the turnover of command last Monday in Bilar town.
Malig-on reported that the communists' threat has now reduced to a very insignificant number where they have monitored zero armed rebels, with only political personnel left.
