A deal for a movie starring former Philippine president Joseph Estrada and comedy queen Ai Ai delas Alas has been finalized.
According to a report from radio dzMM’s Laila Chikadora, negotiations between Estrada, delas Alas and ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema were successfully concluded.
There is still no working title for the forthcoming movie but the report said it would most likely be a family-oriented comedy.
Delas Alas has said that she is elated over the prospect of starring opposite Estrada, who is one of the most respected, legendary figures in Philippine cinema even before he entered politics.
The comedy star has been doing well in her career, and will soon be seen on the small screen in the superhero series “Volta†to be aired over ABS-CBN.
She plays the title role of Volta, a female superhero with the power to generate bolts of electricity.
Estrada has not acted in a film for three decades. His last film as an actor was “Sa Kuko ng Agila†(In the Claws of the Eagle) way back in 1989.
Estrada in an earlier interview with radio dzMM said that he prefers doing a comedy film for his comeback, since at his age—he’s 70 years old---any romantic scenes are out of the question.
However, the report quoted delas Alas as saying that a kissing scene between her and the former president would be a good idea.
