in fairness, Martin sang it with passion. in my opinion, i don't think he was doing a modification (i.e. something that doesn't make the Anthem recognizable anymore) of the tune. he only enhanced it. it indeed is different when a singer like Martin performs on stage. but we cannot question his sincerity of his singing on behalf of all the Filipino people watching the fight this weekend, just because he sang it the way we normally don't do.
one should see how some Canadians and Americans sing their anthems respectively in games like NFL, NHL and NBA; Martin's performance is way way conservative in comparison. but the people of these nations, known still for their passion and love of the country, truly enjoy every word of it--be it sung by someone like an angel or a devil from hell (pardon for such comparisons).
i do believe people wouldn't mind after all how it's being sung, when the bell starts and the action begins to boil. but i still have to produly see how it's being sung, because it will be performed for our National pride's sake and for national unity--at least during the whole duration of the fight.
