More than 8,000 hopefuls have tried out for the special auditions of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Regular Edition, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition and Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) at the Parkmall, Mandaue City, Cebu Sunday.
PBB director Laurenti Dyogi has spearheaded the auditions for PBB regular. There were a total of 8, 629 people who auditioned for the reality-based TV shows.
Some hopefuls came as early as 12 a.m. and all of them came with stories of their life struggles.
Karen Bangga from Iligan City auditioned for PDA in 2007 but she didn't make it. Undaunted, she auditioned again for PDA this year, believing that this time she would make it.
"I believe that I can do it, this is my dream," says Karen.
Melchor Buenaflor, 19, from Barangay Basak Pardo, meanwhile, said he had to borrow money just to get to the audition venue. He said he came to the audition in spite of his parents’ objections.
"They didn't want me to audition because they felt that I couldn't make it. They told me we would be poor forever. I don't believe that. Everything that I'm wearing now is borrowed from a dear friend who has faith in me," said Buenaflor.
Esterlita Montianto, 55, also had to endure the excruciating heat of the sun to wait for her 16- year-old daughter, Maria, who lined up as early as 1 a.m.
"This is her dream and I will support her. We (parents) don't have a job to support her schooling. So, this is the only way we can support her," said Montianto.
