He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He spent a few years away to train and embellish his skills in Baltimore and Birmingham and then decided to come home to New York.

After completing his fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There, he gained extensive experience in the complex as well as minimally invasive techniques of spine surgery. He also pioneered minimally invasive approaches to lumbopelvic fixation in the treatment of complex sacral fractures and tumors.

The doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Orthopedic Surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.
