The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Davao Region assured that all school textbooks are now free from errors.
DepEd regional director Dr. Susana Estigoy said the issue on some erroneous textbooks was already addressed several years ago and all books for public and private schools have been reviewed.
Estigoy said regional offices of DepEd have no control over the types of books or their suppliers since only the central office are allowed to purchase textbooks that will be distributed across the country.
She said in order to have an ample time to review all the books before it will be ready for distribution, a team of books evaluators will examine all the content of the books a year before every school year.
Meanwhile, Dr. Luzminda O. Onor, regional textbook evaluation coordinator, said the government has been very critical on every book that will be used since it is crucial to the entire learning process.
"Books containing errors in their content have already been gone long ago," Onor assured.
For several years, DepEd has been criticized for some published textbooks containing erroneous facts. Every year, before DepEd will distribute textbooks to all public schools across the country, a team of experts, teachers and other professionals will evaluate not only the content of each books but on how effective they will be in the entire learning process.
