Holy Name University (HNU) opens Law Center

As Holy Name University marks its Diamond Jubilee Year, the HNU College of law opens this semester its law center, the first ever in the province.
          

The HNU Law Center is the research and extension arm of the HNU College of Law, providing law students and legal practitioners the facility to keep abreast with laws and current jurisprudence to enhance their academics preparations and profession.

The HNU administration led by Father President Ernesto Lagura, SVE, approved the establishment of the Law Center which will serve as a state-of-the-art repository of updated laws and jurisprudence, Supreme Court circulars, issuances of administrative bodies, legal journals, bar questions and other learning materials for law students, bar reviewees and legal practitioners.

According to Lawyer Tomas Abapo Jr. who assumed last week as the new Dean of the HNU College of Law, the Law Center will also be the core for bar strategies and operations' and shall maintain linkages with HNU law graduates and HNU bar passers and shall serve as conduit of the HNU law alumni association.

Lawyer Rene Paredes, assistant dean of the HNU College of Law, is the director of the HNU Law Center which shall liaise with law organizations such as the IBP, Association of Law Schools of the Philippines, Association of Law Deans and with other major law schools in the country to keep abreast with the trends in developing legal forum, both national and international.

The HNU Law Center will also coordinate the services of the HNU College of Law in legal outreach program such as rendering free legal assistance to identified marginalized sectors and communities in line with the Christian ministry and spiritual formation of Holy Name University.

Meanwhile, Abapo disclosed the return of RTC Judge Baudilio Dosdos as member of the HNU Law Faculty. Other faculty members include RTC Judge Teofilo Baluma, and lawyers: Danilo Bantugan, Florendo Columnas, Doni Piquero, Mitchell John Boiser, Cristifil Baluma CPA and Dr. Cirilo Jalad.

With the establishment of the HNU Law Center, the HNU College of Law also upgraded its facilities including the new law library, faculty room and the law dean's office.
