Filipino Version in Science and Mathematics
« on: July 16, 2008, 10:03:32 AM »
A Filipino version of key concepts in science and mathematics is scheduled for launching on Wednesday by Education Secretary Jesli Lapus and Intel-Philippines country manager Ricky Banaag in Mandaluyong City.

The online educational website, http://www.skoool.ph, can be accessed on the internet for free, the DepEd said.

Also going automated are the payments for the salaries of “asatidz” or Muslim Arabic-language teachers in public schools, via automated teller machines (ATM) of the government-owned Land Bank of the Philippines, the DepEd announced.

Astidz are volunteer teachers trained by DepEd for language as well as Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) for a maximum monthly compensation of P3,000. They may get an extra P2,000 from local government units that can afford it.

In madaris, basic subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino and Makabayan are integrated in the ALIVE program.

In the new arrangement, the Regional Office of DepEd consolidates the payroll for astidz by Schools Division by indicating the actual work hours of the teachers. - PNA
