Pune, India: The Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena (BVS), the students’ arm of the Shiv Sena, has threatened to intensify its agitation against academic institutions offering professional studies like medical, management and design in association with foreign universities.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, BVS city unit president Ajay Shinde said these institutions were operating in gross violation of the position taken by the concerned professional regulatory bodies regarding foreign universities.
"The institutions are neither proving their credentials nor the government officials concerned are willing to act against them," Shinde said. "Scores of unsuspecting students are getting misled in the process," he said.
For instance, he said, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has posted an unambiguous notice on its official website, cautioning students against seeking admission to institutes offering degrees from foreign universities. The MCI has stated, among other things, that no foreign university has been permitted to start medical course, equivalent of MBBS, or to establish such campus in India. These medical degrees are not approved.
Still, several private institutes in the city, claiming to be recruiting agents of universities in countries like the Philippines, China, USSR, Mauritius, The Netherlands, etc were attracting students through advertisements. source: Times of IndiaLinkback:
