press releaseFirst District Representative Edgar Chatto, who was himself an outstanding student of the Holy Name University, challenged graduating students who attended the recent convocation at the MetroCentre Hotel to aim for the best as they get out of their cocoons.
The Seniors' convocation held on August 19 was anchored on the theme, "Taking on the challenge of service and leadership to greater heights".
Representative Chatto was the keynote speaker during the event.
"As graduating students, you are now ready to come out of your cocoons, just like butterflies ready to fly and face the challenges ahead of them outside the school campus," Chatto told the graduating students.
The congressman also urged them to always aim for the best, citing that the capacity of the country to grow and develop largely depends on the kind of people who serve as rudder of the mainstream and the labor force.
"Values and character of each one is the most important aspect of a person," Chatto pointed out.
On leadership, Chatto explained that "leadership is a gift from God and can be developed to be the best guide or influence on others towards a common goal" and further emphasized that "our community needs servant-leaders who are God-fearing and can give without counting the cost, fight without counting the wounds and work without seeking rest".
Chatto also explained that challenges should be considered as stepping stones, rather than stumbling blocks towards success.
"To attain success, one must always think positive, persevere and face every trial as opportunities to fly towards greater heights," he said.
