Gov. Edgar M. Chatto is calling on those who are interested to work as call center agents to avail of the scholarship programs of TESDA and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines

There are 340 vacant slots in three TESDA - accredited schools in Bohol.

These are: ACLC college is offering 100 scholars for Finishing Course for Call Agents and another 150 from the Philippine Call Center Institute.

Twenty slots for Professional Assistant on 3D Animation and another 20 for Entry Course for Software Developer from the Crystal –E College.

Bohol Powerhouse Statistics is offering 50 slots for Medical Transcription.

The scholarship program is actually an expansion of the “Training-for-Work” of the Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as part of Pres. Benigno Aquino III’s stimulus package for pre-employment training and re-tooling of incoming workers in the IT-BPO sector.

The program is being coursed through the Bohol Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Council with Dalia Melda Tirol-Magno as President.

Chatto is now encouraging all those who are unemployed but having the basic skills and enthusiasm to work in the industry to avail of this free training. This way, we can increase the number and quality of our local talent pool and raise the attractiveness of the province as a BPO destination.

Application forms are now available at the Bohol Investment Promotion Center (BIPC) located at the Ground floor of the Provincial Capitol Commercial Building at Marapao Street; or can call telephone numbers 412-4559, 501-8063 and 235-6039.

The BIPC acts as Secretariat to the Council, providing documentary assessment and facilitation of applications.

In March last year, the Provincial Government of Bohol and the Bohol ICT Council conducted the 1st Bohol ICT Summit whereby Gov. Chatto has envisioned that the next wave industry for the province would be the ICT/BPO.
