Strengthening the Barangay Justice System
« on: June 17, 2009, 05:48:24 PM »
The local government unit of Catigbian and the Catigbian chapter of the Liga Ng Mga Barangay, in coordination with the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, recently initiated on strengthening barangay governance through empowering and enhancing the strategic administration of the barangay justice system of the locality.

In fact, they conducted a training on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) on May 26, 28, and 29, at the fully-air conditioned Catigbian Conference Hall participated in by 22 barangay captains, 22 barangay secretaries and 189 lupon members.

In his inspirational message during the opening of the activity, Mayor Roberto Salinas stressed that barangay justice system should be effectively delivered at the grassroots level to promote peace and harmony among constituents and to provide an accessible mechanism for resolving the justice issues of the community members.
Speakers during the training included members of the DILG-Bohol TACT Cluster 1B, DILG-Bohol Administrative Officer Regina Gina Gatal and the 20th MCTC Presiding Judge Jorge Cabalit.

Republic Act 7160 gives barangays the mandate to enforce peace and order to provide support for the effective enforcement of human rights and justice.

Barangay Justice System provides a friendly, inexpensive, and speedy forum for the settlement of disputes where the parties can freely explore options for amicably resolving their disputes without resorting to the courts. - Sunday Post

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
