By Atoy CosapThe new officers of the Abatan River Development Management Council (ARDMC), aimed at developing the Abatan River, were inducted into office before Congressman Edgar Chatto, chairman of the House committee on tourism, in a ceremony held at Catigbian Conference Hall, Catigbian town last Friday afternoon.
ARDMC is now headed by its president, Catigbian Mayor Roberto "Bert" Salinas, who is also the vice-president of LMP Bohol Chapter.
Other officers inducted into office were Maribojoc Vice Mayor Ben Redulla, vice president; Balilihan Mayor Victoria Chatto, chairperson, tourism destination and attraction; Cortes Mayor Jasmin Balistoy, tourism promotion program; Antequera Mayor Cecilia Rebosura, tourism-related enterprise; Maribojoc Mayor Boy Evasco, enforcement of laws; Cortes Vice Mayor Rudy Uy, wildlife protection; Antequera Vice Mayor Jose Mario Pahang, formulation of policies; and Balilihan Vice Mayor Dominisio Chatto, treasurer.
The inaugural program was attended by Dir. Allan Cañizar, chief, Bureau of Planning of the DOT; Archt. Renato Bacungan, Engr. Arthur Cruz and Chit Lacson of the Philippine Tourism Authority; PENRO Eduardo Inting, DTI Provincial Dir. Nanette Arbon, Prov'l. Tourism Officer Oroncia Balio and the local officials of Catigbian.
Activities started at 9 a.m. through a conference-briefing with Cong. Chatto and Prov'l. Tourism Council chair Peter Dejaresco on board on a floating restaurant at the Abatan River in Maribojoc town. After a short conference, Vice Mayor Redulla and Maribojoc Kagawad Liling Villas guided the visitors from Manila for a tour traversing the river from Abatan to barangay Cabad, Balilihan town.
Mayor Salinas and other local officials of Catigbian welcomed the visitors for a sumptuous lunch.
Cong. Chatto and provincial officials are optimistic that Abatan River will be fully developed and become one of the best tourist attractions in the province.
