Many Boholanos still refuse to listen to warning about con-artists out to rob their hard-earned money.
Two women, fresh from withdrawing money from a bank, were the latest victims of the bodol-bodol gang still operating in the city.
Eustaquia Estampar, 55 and Sopia Tingao, 47 of Catigbian town said they lost cash, cell phones and their ATM cards after they were enticed by two women who approached them while inside an eatery near Shoppers Mart.
The suspects offered them P5,000 if they can help them find a van-for-hire they will use.
Before the suspects left, they were able to convince the victims to watch a bag full of money while they negotiate for the van. The victims were also told to put inside the bag their own cash money amounting P22, 000, their cellphones and ATM cards.
The two women agreed to watch over the bag but after a while of waiting the suspects did not come back. The two became suspicious and they forced-open the bag.
Found inside were just shreds of paper cut from old newspapers. They also check their own cash money and cellphones but all these were gone.
The police said victims are attracted by the sweet-talking gang members but most of the time also by “the desire to gain†with the money offered to them.
To avoid being victimized by this gang, the police said that we follow what our parents told us: “Never talk to strangers.â€
