Two business establishments here recently committed to sponsor the Tagaonan Primary School, an extension of Carmen Central School, under DepEd's Adopt-a-School program.
The chief operating officers of Gyre Galere Concepts Trading Corporation and V-Jon Trading International, Jonathan T. Gaytano and Virna Condes-Gaytano, respectively and other officers of the two corporations came to Tagaonan Primary School on October 10 to attend the program's launching ceremony.
Tagaonan Primary School is approximately three kilometers from its mother school, Carmen Central School.
Tagaonan is one of the sitios of Poblacion Norte which has been assessed to be a depressed area considering its steep terrain.
Most of the residents belong to the low-income group and most of the pupils ended up as drop-outs by middle of the school year due to financial constraint and its distance.
Moreover, some parents consider it too risky for their children to cross a river which overflows during heavy rains, in going to school.
In consideration to the situation, DepEd established a school at their doorsteps.
At present, DepEd has assigned two teachers to handle classes for Grade I to Grade IV.
Through the efforts of the school's cluster head, Francisco Alcular and Edith Gaytano-Cuaresma, a retired public school teacher whose aspiration is to help the children, and in coordination with DepEd and LGU-Carmen through Mayor Manuel Molina, Tagaonan Primary School had been blessed to have secured a benefactor who will provide them the school needs.
