Published by the Bohol Sunday Post

A man suspected of being the leader of a hold-up syndicate operating in interior towns fell into the long arm of the law during a raid in Carmen town.

Leo Romorosa, of legal age, a native of Barangay Calatrava, Carmen town, is believed to be the successor of slain bandit leader Diosdado Pojas. Pojas was believed to be the top honcho of the notorious Boac Gang that terrorized interior towns.

Romorosa was arrested during a raid conducted about 6 am last July 10 by elements of the Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Branch (PIIB) headed by Supt. Clarito Baja.

The raid was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Fernando Fuentes III of the Regional Trial Court Branch 49.

A live grenade was recovered during the raid.

Romorosa is suspected to be the supplier of firearms to hold-up men and robbers.

He has been linked to various hold-ups in the towns of Carmen, Sagbayan, Dagohoy, Clarin and other neighboring towns.

The suspect however denied the allegations when interrogated in Camp Dagohoy .

He is presently detained at the Camp Dagohoy lock-up jail in connection with the case for illegal possession of explosives.

As this developed, a barangay captain fell victim to criminal elements when he was held up right inside his own home in Lila town.

The victim was identified as one Anastacia Magapan, of legal age and barangay captain of Bonkokan Ilaya.

Initial investigation revealed that two still unnamed suspects entered the residence of the victim about 11 pm last July 9.

The two suspects managed to gain entry into the house after destroying the lock to the kitchen door while the victim was fast asleep.

After announcing the hold-up, the suspects confiscated valuables including the victim's DVD player, mobile phone and jewelries estimated to be worth P10,000.

The suspects subsequently escaped into the darkness.

There has been no report yet regarding any concrete breakthrough on the case from the Lila PNP which is investigating the incident. - July 15, 2007
