Panels to Address Commercialization and Public Safety Issues Regarding Autonomous Vehicles

SAE International announces it will sponsor two expert-led panel discussions at the Velodyne Lidar World Safety Summit on Autonomous Technology, which will be held on October 2, 2019, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
The World Safety Summit gathers leaders from across the industry to discuss the biggest hurdles for mass adoption of autonomous vehicle (AV) technology. As part of the summit, industry leaders will connect with the general public to advance consumer awareness on how AVs will revolutionize transportation through lively discussions as well as a chance to experience a ride in a fully autonomous vehicle.

Additionally, the summit will feature seven panel sessions that will explore topics such as the AV testing process, how to address confusing terminology related to vehicle autonomy and safety, education and public engagement and cybersecurity.

The Business of Autonomy – The future of numerous industries will rely on fleets of self-driving cars. Panelists will discuss what is happening within their organizations, their visions for the future and how stakeholders must come together to establish and meet standards for safety, regulation, and technology.

The Voice of the AV Rider – During this panel, recent riders from SAE’s Demo Days at WCX will share their personal “before and after” experiences of riding in a self-driving car for the first time. This panel will also explore the media perspective about AVs, consumer opinion and public adoption.
