MANILA, Philippines -- A vintage Willys military jeep is the centerpiece of Philippine-made motor vehicle parts and accessories on display at the Philippine Pavilion of the 2009 Taipei International Auto Parts (AMPA) running from April 14 to 17, 2009 at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taiwan.

The display is a joint project of the Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (MVPMAP), the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
“It is the first time for the Philippines to participate in the Taipei AMPA Show, considered as the premier auto parts show in Asia. This is also significant as this is the first time that local auto parts makers have banded together to participate in an international trade exhibit of this magnitude.

This pioneering participation in the 2009 AMPA brings to the fore Philippine ingenuity and craftsmanship as epitomized by the iconic "jeep" which through the years became the backbone and inspiration of the local "jeepney."

According to Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Peter B. Favila, "the DTI has recognized the opportunities in Taiwan for the local parts manufacturing industry, both in the market for replacement parts as well as OEM opportunities that combine Taiwanese technology with the expanded and specialised production capacities in the Philippines."

Being a truly Philippine vehicle, MVPMAP and MECO have chosen the jeep to symbolize the Philippine auto industry and what Philippine auto parts makers can do.

According to Ambassador Antonio I. Basilio, MECO resident representative and managing director, 11 local auto parts makers representing MVPMAP are participating in this four-day Taipei auto parts show: Ambrose Industries, Famous Secret Precision Machining, Fasteners Inc., Laguna Carparts Manufacturing, MD Juan Enterprises, Nito Seiki Manufacturing, OEM Parts Manufacturing, Rado Rubberworks Manufacturing, Roberts AIPMC, Supercast Foundry and Machinery and the VSO Group of Compa

Call me old fashioned, but I really love this Jeep! A very able 4x4 and a real piece of history. In NCR, it is restored by a shop in Q.C. for export, pero kaya kaayo ni i-restore sa mga shop dinhi sa ato sa Bohol.

i know a guy who owns a jeep here. he said he bought the body from the Philippines. at first i thought he was only joking until i saw the body with the bodybuilder's name on it. i was so proud telling him how good we are fabricating jeeps.

Picture above displayed from Jeep restoration shop in Quezon City

These jeeps are marketed to the U.S. mao nga mahal na kaayo sa local market, I hope they dont use ex-jdm (japanese domestic market - surplus) engines.
I saw some similar McArthur Willys in Jagna, high school pa 'ko, pero wala ka na makit-an karung panahona, thus we can call it vintage and restoration shops are very rare.

Sorry, ms da binsi, bolingitboy, I'm not sure how much really ang price nila each unit, pero try also to check their website, www.mdjuan.com.ph or try in tsikot.com forum Philippine Car Talk and discover more Philippine made vehicles.

Ako mismo want to buy a unit and hoping to drop by their shop when I'm back sa 'pinas, but I'm still hoping na dunay restoration shop locally sa Bohol para di' nata moadto'g layo.

quote from corrosion_block: "Ako mismo want to buy a unit and hoping to drop by their shop when I'm back sa 'pinas, but I'm still hoping na dunay restoration shop locally sa Bohol para di' nata moadto'g layo."

i don't think there are any restoration shops in bohol, although i'm sure that local body building shops that do fabrication would be able to make even major repairs in their original appearance. but this is only true with existing run-down units that need a facelift, not fabricate a replica from scratch.

mdb: the jeep in the photos are american jeeps (government issue) that they used during WWII. that would mean that they made it, although filipinos are very good at fabricating stuff even in their original measurements if provided with details. i think that the QC restoration shop that built these replicas with the thought of the business that they can make with collectors and jeep enthusiasts in mind.

kung naa sa bohol, kinahanglan kang mo-check kanunay sa imong gipagama aron masunod gyud imong specifications ug gusto sa restoration. daghang mohimo ana, basta naa lang tay kwarta magamit para ipagama.

The best way siguro, naa gyud original nga Willys para masundugan to make sure nga masunod ang specs [this vehicle is very rare in Bohol - anyone?] and of course 'sakto ka glacier, kwarta...tingali not too much ang total amount if locally assembled body tubs, while Isuzu Diesel 4JB1, 2.8L or 4HF1, 4.2L brand new engines are available for local vehicle manufacturers, medju lisud lang mangita ug donor drivetrain- we don't have ex-jdm-surplus market sa bohol-naa na ba?
