A day allotted for physical exercise in Calape town is also a nature caring day for the town police force.
 
According to Pinsp. Perigrino Carlon, chief of the Calape Police Station, in time for the town’s weekly Hataw execises, he takes his police force to a mangrove planting activity in Lawis of the town’s Panggangan Island.
 
Every Friday afternoon, we go to plant mangroves as our way of helping care for the environment, he shared to media and police officers present.
 
Highlighting the town’s crucial efforts to continue safeguarding and protecting their marine habitat of Bohol’s pioneering town winner in Coastal Resource Management Program, Insp. Carlon said they have also strengthened their drive against illegal fishing.
 
He said that on October 20, his men along with fish wardens, in the drive called Oplan Kalikasan, they apprehended three fishermen using compressors.
 
Cited in violation of Municipal ordinance Number 5, series of 2005, he said the suspects were apprehended and their air compressor confiscated.
 
The suspects also paid P2,500 fine for the compressor, according to the police chief.
 
At the recent Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis held at the Bohol Island State University Conference Hall in Clarin November 10, PInspector Carlon was just one of the six police stations commanders who rendered their accomplishment reports to the Boholanos through the monthly police and media interaction.
 
A program he took over from the Police Regional Office in Region 7, Carlon said that he thought he could bring his police into a relationship much closer to the community in Panggangan, who subsist mostly on fishing.
 
And because police could not be choosy on their jobs, he added that environment protection is just one of their mandates.
 
We continue to conduct checkpoint operations and push police visibility as much as practicable to keep criminals from coming, he said.  (racPIABohol)
