Gripping on the local rice supply amid the perceived looming crisis, Governor Erico Aumentado was quick to issue an executive order Friday last week, regulating the shipment of palay and milled rice to other provinces to prevent draining the local stock.
In the EO, the governor sets the maximum allowable shipment for large retailers at 500 sacks (at the standard 50 kilos) per week; 300 sacks for medium retailers and 100 sacks for small retailers.
Aumentado signed the EO on April 4 at the clinching part of his weekly radio program, Governor's Report, aired simultaneous over two major Tagbilaran-based AM stations and over other Bohol-based radio stations on delayed broadcast.
Aired live over the radio program was his dialogue with local rice millers and retailers at the Governor's Mansion, with the presence of Regional Director Aster Caberte of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Provincial Director Edgardo Ingking of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Manager Manuel Boholano, National Food Authority (NFA) Manager Nestor Rey Alcoseba and officials of the Philippine Coast Guard.
