Treatment Plant For Tagbilaran Water
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:38:39 PM »
A treatment plant to filter wastewater coming from the city's drainage system should be a priority project that requires urgent solution.

This was the statement made by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso when interviewed by the Chronicle saying that while City Mayor Dan Lim promised the setting up of the water treatment facility for almost a year now, the budgetary requirement for said project has yet to be taken up.

The vice mayor, who was recently stripped of the chairmanship of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on appropriations bared that he had scheduled meetings with the local finance committee (LFC) to discuss the budget for the construction of a waste water treatment plant.

However, Veloso said the mayor prohibited the members of the LFC to discuss budgetary measures at the city council's hearings and sessions, making it harder for lawmakers to identify the sources of funding for the waste water treatment plant. -- www.boholchronicle.com
