Tropical storm skirts PH, heads for Japan, but brings rain to Luzon, Visayas
Philippine Daily Inquirer
3:10 am | Monday, September 16th, 2013

MTSAT ENHANCED-IR Satellite Image 2 a.m., 16 September 2013

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Storm “Man-Yi” is heading for Japan but is expected to continue to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) and bring moderate to heavy rains over portions of Luzon and the Visayas on Monday.

The weather bureau alerted residents of Metro Manila as well as Central and southern Luzon to possible flash floods and landslides that may be triggered by the rains.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is tracking a low pressure area (LPA) east of Luzon.
The LPA was monitored at 4 p.m. Sunday to be 1,010 kms east of Luzon. “Based on our assessment, it could develop into a tropical depression as long as it remains over the Pacific Ocean,” forecaster Buddy Javier said, adding that the LPA was not anticipated to intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours.

The weather agency said the current rainy weather was due to storm Man-Yi, which skirted the Philippine area of responsibility.—Jeannette I. Andrade

That's all for this morning, kaberks! Have a pleasant, resentment-free Monday!

Tropical Depression Odette continued its westward movement and inched closer to Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province early Tuesday, state weather forecasters said.

PAGASA, in its 5 a.m. bulletin, said Odette was estimated 830 km east of Tuguegarao City as of 4 a.m., with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph.

Tropical Depression Odette is forecast to move west at 7 kph, even as the southwest monsoon is affecting Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas.

PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas may expect "cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms."

Mindanao will be "partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms."

Moderate to strong winds from the southwest to south will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to south with slight to moderate seas, it said. — DVM, GMA News

Hi folks! Ondoy Tagatigbotoy here to bring you the latest rains, er, weather update:

'Odette' will stay within Philippines until Saturday
By: Jaime Sinapit, InterAksyon.com
September 17, 2013 8:43 AM

MANILA - Tropical depression Odette will stay inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until Saturday, the state-run weather bureau said on Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), meantime, is tracking a new weather disturbance outside PAR.

While inside PAR, Odette has enhanced the southwest monsoon to bring more rains to Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa said that as of 4 a.m. the center of the cyclone was estimated at 830 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City (17.9ºN,130.7ºE).

Odette is carrying maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour.

“It is forecast to move west at 7 kph,” Pagasa said.

“Metro Manila and the rest of the Luzon and Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms,” it added.

mora man ug padung na pod magbaha ang manila, with the way the rains are going here.  still i hope not.  daghan na kaayog problema ning atong capital city ambot ba uroy.

mahibalik na sad atong buot aning pork barrel.  kung gigamit pa lang tong kwartaha para flood controls, di unta ning very disorganized metropolis mag-antos ug baha.

bai tigs, kumusta na man tawon ang españa boulevard of broken dreams, street of shattered schemes?
