Take down billboards, MMDA reminds NCR advertisers amid 'Gorio' threatAmid rain and bad weather conditions from Tropical Storm Gorio (Rumbia), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Saturday reminded advertisers to take down their billboards.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said billboards should be automatically taken down when Storm Signal No. 1 is over Metro Manila, radio dzBB reported.
Earlier, the MMDA had warned billboards could pose a threat to life and property during stormy weather, as they could collapse and fall on people or vehicles.
Tolentino went around Metro Manila to inspect areas where billboards are installed, to see if they had been taken down.
State weather forecasters had placed Metro Manila under Storm Signal No. 1 as Gorio continued to move northwest after making landfall on Eastern Samar.
Many flights in affected areas had been canceled due to bad weather conditions.
PAGASA said Tropical Storm Gorio is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday. — LBG, GMA News
