http://www.gmanetwork.com/A potential cyclone moved closer to Mindanao Wednesday afternoon, even as state weather forecasters said rain may fall on parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the a low-pressure area or potential cyclone was estimated at 475 km east of Hinatuan City as of 4 p.m.
"Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally good weather except for isolated thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon," it said.
Should the LPA intensify into a cyclone while inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), it will be locally codenamed Dante.
PAGASA also said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the northeast over the rest of the country.
"The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate," it said.
Earlier Wednesday, PAGASA forecaster Ricky Fabregas said Metro Manila recorded its highest temperature so far this year at 34.6 degrees Celsius, while Tuguegarao also experienced its hottest temperature at 35.5 degrees. — TJD, GMA News
