There is still to let-up in the incidence of robbery in the province as a restaurant owner in Candijay found out belatedly.
The victim was identified as one Charlita Orias, 42, a resident of Poblacion, Mabini town.
Initial investigation revealed that the incident happened late in the morning last Sept. 13.
Orias told investigators she was very busy attending to the customers in her restaurant and was very preoccupied.
She however recalled that a female and a male entered the restaurant about 10 that morning.
The couple pretended to be customers and started to move around but Orias did not have time to monitor their movements.
A few moments later however, the victim said she noticed that her bag with her valuables were already missing.
She said the couple was also nowhere to be found at the time the bag was discovered missing.
Orias revealed that her bag contained P96,000 in cash. She said she placed the bag inside a plastic Orocan container.
It was not known if the money represented her earnings for the day or whether it was intended for something else.
Elements of the Candijay PNP conducted follow-up investigation to determine the identities of the couple.
Police authorities have repeatedly issued warnings in the wake of an upsurge in robberies and hold-ups.
The rise in the reported incidents of criminalities is attributed to the worsening economic situation in the country.
The police have also been largely unable to respond appropriately to the increasing incidence in many towns.
