Google takes down anti-Filipino blog

By Camille Diola (philstar.com)
June 20, 2014

The racist blog has been taken down by Google following the Philippine government's statement against it. screencaps

MANILA, Philippines — It was Google itself that removed a blog with a post promoting hatred against Filipinos in Singapore, the technology company confirmed.

Google told the Malay Mail on Friday that the blog, Blood Stained Singapore, violated its community rules for Blogger where it is hosted. Blogger is a free service owned by Google.

The content policy states that blogs and content should not "cross the line by publishing hate speech."

"We mean content that promotes hate or violence towards groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity. For example, don't write a blog saying that members of Race X are criminals or advocating violence against followers of Religion Y," Google's Blogger says.

Philippines asks Singapore to probe racist blog

By AP News Jun 19, 2014

The Philippines Embassy in Singapore complained about the blog. Pic: AP.

SINGAPORE (AP) — The Philippines has asked Singapore authorities to take action against a blog author who suggested Singaporeans should shove Filipinos on the street and be rude to Filipino workers.

The blog, titled “Filipino infestation in Singapore — 5 point guide to showing displeasure without breaking the law,” was posted at the end of May and has since been taken down. It was written anonymously and was widely shared on social media, prompting the Philippine Embassy in Singapore to appeal to the government for prompt action.

Police said they are investigating, according to local media reports, but gave no other details.

The incident points to growing intolerance toward migrant workers, who have largely built the wealthy city-state’s impressive skyline and transport infrastructure.

the contents of that blood stained blog:

Filipino infestation in Singapore – 5 point guide to showing displeasure without breaking the law

Yes, the Filipinos have long overstayed their welcome, and they must be advised in no less clearer terms that we are growing intolerant of their presence. Then again, let’s do this through largely “peaceful”, non criminal means. We recommend pissing them off in the following ways:

1. Reject, and ask for replacement

If you encounter a Pinoy waiter/waitress or customer service officer, tell them this: “Could you kindly ask a Singaporean staff to speak to me? Your standard of English – there is much left to be desired.” If the idiot continues rambling on, tell him/her with a smile: ”Your English sucks, capisce? Get the f*** out of my uncaring face and find me someone else, pronto.”

2. Step on ‘em, push or shove ‘em

When the Peenoise get rowdy or obviously do not observe basic social decorum, a little “nudge” in the right direction won’t harm. Just make it look accidental. Pump your fist in victory later when they are out of your sight. We understand sometimes they just don’t get it, so a little more force must be employed. Like what this unsung hero did: ‘This morning at Bishan Circle Line MRT I pushed a Pinoy out of the train before door closes.’

3. Create an artistic mess on your plate when dining at Jollibee

Or any other Filipino themed restaurant/food outlet. Toss food into your mouth, chew thoroughly, then spit it out. Bite another morsel and repeat. Do this till your plate is a masterpiece of regurgitated nastiness. Ask for the bill (pay in cash), scribble “Pinoy food f***** tastes like shit” on the receipt and remember to leave that piece of paper behind.

4. Never render help when Filipinos are involved in serious traffic accidents

Stand on the side with your arms folded across your chest, peering curiously at the bloody set piece. Do not call the ambulance. But you have our permission to take photographs so they can be tweeted later with the caption: Hopefully another Pinoy has breathed his last on the little red dot. RIP.NOT.

5. Pray for a flood of biblical proportions to descend upon Orchard Road on 8 June

Go to the nearest church and pray. Pray hard for divine intervention aloud. Make sure God (and the Pinoy sitting next to you on the same bench) hears every word.

There will be no Noah’s Ark to save the partying Filipino motherfuckers when hell breaks loose, because Noah sure ain’t Pinoy when we last checked. Let’s watch them drown whilst eating popcorn on our HD TVs.

Edit: The event to celebrate Pinoy National Day has been called off. Glory to Jesus ! A-f*****-MEN!

6. ( bonus point) Actually this is our favourite.

If you see a Pinoy cashier at NTUC, Cold Storage or Giant, throw a can of Baygon into your shopping before approaching him/her to make payment. When the cashier picks up the insecticide spray ready to do a barcode scan, ask him/her wryly: ”Is this effective against Filipinos? Sorry, I meant cockroaches.“

Singaporean couple charged for abuses, including forcing maids to swallow own vomit

By E.J. Carleon
June 19, 2014 Posted in: WORLD, World News

SINGAPORE  – A couple is facing multiple charges of abuses committed against their Indonesian and Burmese maids – from beating them with a cane to forcing one of the women to eat her own vomit, the STOMP reported.

The accused were identified as 37-year old Tay Wee Kiat, an IT manager and his 39-year old wife,  Chia Yun Ling, a sales manager. The couple are facing a total of 21 charges of physical abuse.

The husband, Tay, faces 21 charges of abuses for allegedly hitting Indonesian maid Fitriyah nine times with a bamboo cane inside their Yishun apartment in 2012. He also allegedly beat another Burmese (Myanmar) househelp Moe Moe Than with the same stick six times.

Meanwhile, the wife, Chia, faces 11 charges for allegedly slapping one of the maids and beating the other with a cane. The couple is also accused of forcing both Fitriyah and Than to slap each other.

Tay at one instance, was said to also have carried Than and threw her out of the bedroom. Other abuses the two domestic helpers allegedly suffered from the husband and wife include: making them strip and taking a photograph of them naked, forcing an incense bottle into the mouth of 32-year Fitriyah, pulling their hair, and forcing the 25-year old Than to the floor and stepping on her chest.

But the most serious incident was when the abusive wife supposedly forced sugar into Than’s throat using a funnel, and when the maid began to throw up, Chia forced her to swallow the vomit back.

The husband is also accused of trying to bribe Fitriyah with a month’s salary and a plane ticket to Indonesia in exchange for not reporting the abuses to the Singaporean authorities.

They are also facing charges for violating the Ministry of Manpower working pass conditions.

Last year, Singapore is home to more than 200,000 foreign migrant workers, including Indonesians, Malaysians, Burmese, Vietnamese and Filipinos, but it has become notorious for maid abuses in recent years.

Just last March of this year, another couple, Mohamad Al-Hafiz Nordin and his wife Nuraini Hassan was slapped with a total of 6 counts of physical abuses committed against 34-year old Yulianti from Indonesia. Both have pleaded guilty to the charge.

Yulianti accused the couple with slapping, beating, kicking and hitting her on numerous occasions. She was only able to escape her employers after climbing out of their third floor flat in Punggol, and jumping from the second floor to the ground. She lost 20 kilograms during her six-month ordeal, from February to August in 2012.

clarifying this thread's title... singapore sling

The Singapore Sling is a South-East Asian cocktail. This long drink was developed sometime before 1915 by Ngiam Tong Boon, a Hainanese bartender working at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel Singapore. It was initially called the gin sling, - a sling was originally an American drink composed of spirit and water, sweetened and flavored.
