The 10-day campaign period for the synchronized barangay and youth polls had been peaceful, so far, without any election-related violence.
PNP Prov'l Director P/SSupt. Constantino Barot Jr. disclosed this even as he explained that the incident in Getafe could not be considered election-related wherein a candidate for barangay captain in Catagbacan had been arrested for illegal possession of a deadly weapon, along with two companions who yielded .357 revolver last week.
Barot also admitted that he had received requests for more police force from the municipal election officers of two more towns added to the areas of concern.
The election officers just want to be "pro-active" through police visibility amid stiff rivalry in the barangay elections.
The towns of Clarin, Getafe, Valencia, Carlos P. Garcia, Sagbayan, and Buenavista had earlier been declared as areas of concern.
Barot disclosed that there are actually eight towns that are considered areas of concern.
These towns are spread throughout the three districts of Bohol, according to Barot.
Barot also vowed to check on the municipal police chief of Antequera, following complaints of arrogance and undesirable attitude raised by concerned citizens. - Bohol Chronicle
