The fight against criminalities in the city is expected to even improve even as the city PNP arrested last night the suspect behind the murder of Bohol Tropics sales executive Jack Arat.
This developed after City Mayor Dan Lim and PNP Prov'l Director Edgardo Ingking declared to join hands in the fight against crimes in the city.
It maybe noted that these two officials were not in their "comfortable terms" since the time Ingking assumed as the police provincial director here vice Police Senior Supt. Arturo Evangelista who also crossed path with the city mayor.
Lim and Ingking were noted to be on a dynamic discussion after the meeting of the Bohol Prime Movers headed by Hans Schoof at the Capitol last Wednesday.
The "cold treatment" between the two officials almost erupted into a major conflict during last Tuesday's bank heist wherein Ingking ordered that rob suspect leader Meloy Garcia be brought to Camp Dagohoy while Mayor Lim insisted to bring said suspect to the city PNP headquarters for initial interrogation.
However, during their discussion last Friday, the two officials agreed to frequently exchange notes on police matters.
DAY 1: SEPT. 1
Mayor Lim reiterated that he makes true his policy to close night spots especially drinking joints by 12 midnight.
His earlier pronouncement pointed to Sept. 1 as the first day of implementation of the "12 midnight closure" order.
However, in a check made by the Chronicle last night, the mayor's order was not implemented including the barbecue joints known as "sky's the limit," areas where beer and liquor are sold up to the wee hours in the morning.
Mayor Lim, in an earlier statement said he will also order the PNP to strictly implement the liquor ban and curfew on minors at 10 p.m. Internet joints will also be included in the 12 midnight closure policy.
He said that with the increasing criminalities in the city, he will not wait for his 100-day period to implement these orders which are aimed at improving the peace and order situation in this growing city.
The public expects the mayor to implement these orders since tomorrow is already the third day of September or two days delayed of the targeted implementation date.
