Bohol Provincial lawmakers yesterday unanimously passed an ordinance reverting P10.8 million in salary savings for the purchase of 13 new vehicles.
The new cars will be used by 10 elected provincial kagawads and three ex-officio members of the provincial board.
During yesterday's regular session of the provincial board, the lawmakers approved the measure after a request from the office of the governor for the reversion of the P10.8 million funds saved from salaries of unfilled positions in the different offices of the provincial government.
In an interview with the Chronicle, senior board member Cesar Tomas Lopez, currently acting vice-governor, said the lawmakers plan to purchase 13 Isuzu Crosswinds.
For several years now, board members have been asking for the new vehicles since most of the present issued cars are already old and would entail so much costs for repairs and maintenance.
