The Bohol ChronicleThe city government will file a petition at the Supreme Court seeking to nullify the franchise of Bohol Light Company Inc. (BLCI).
Another complaint will be filed at the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for the cancellation of the 25-centavo provisional power rate increase granted to power utility company.
During the public hearing at the Governor’s Mansion conducted by the ERC last Friday, city legal officer Atty. Doni Piquero manifested the city’s intent to file said petitions.
However, Commissioner Jose Reyes told Piquero that the said hearing was not the proper venue for such petition as it was conducted for the purpose of Bohol Light’s application for the unbundling of its rates and capital expenditures for projects.
Reyes said the commission will have to set another hearing for the purpose after they receive the petition.
This came after the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) during its session last Wednesday directed Piquero to file the complaints against Bohol Light in the appropriate courts.
In said resolution, city lawmakers argued that Bohol Light should have presented to the Sanggunian its complete records as basis of its application for capital expenditures and the unbundling of rates which resulted to an increase.
The same resolution requested the ERC to suspend further hearings on Bohol Light’s applications until the Sanggunian, through its assigned committee, has completed an evaluation of said applications.
