A Michigan man could face up to three months in jail after a friendly game of Monopoly turned violent. Kenneth Repke, 54, faces charges of assault and battery after allegedly slapping a woman and damaging her glasses after she declined to sell Broadwalk and Park Place (US version of Mayfair and Park Lane) to him.
The victim called the police saying: “I was at my neighbour’s house. We were playing Monopoly and he hit me. He slapped me and knocked my glasses off.â€
Neighbours have been shocked by the incident, saying that Mr Repke and the woman regularly met for board game sessions. One neighbour said: “I thought that was violent for a game that’s supposed to be friendly. I guess he takes his Monopoly pretty seriously.â€
Kenneth Repke will appear in court this week and if found guilty, could be imprisoned for up to three months.
