The Department of Health identified three barangays in this city as dengue epidemic areas, after the number of cases surged by 261 in about a one month.

Barangays Cogon, Dao, and Taloto have been identified as dengue epidemic areas; and barangays Bool and Dampas as hot spots for dengue.

The DOH indentified Booy, Mansasa, Poblacion 3 and Ubujan as in the clustering proportion in terms of dengue cases wherein three or more dengue patients have been recorded in a barangay in four consecutive weeks.

In just a little over a month, the number of cases province-wide rapidly climbed to 1,412 as of Sept. 13 from 1,151 as of Aug. 9 with one more death added.

There had been eight deaths as of Aug. 9, which inched to nine as of Sept. 13.

Tagbilaran City contributed three to the number of deaths from dengue.

Cogon has previously been recorded to have topped the dengue surge in the city with the cases rising to 22 in just a week to Aug. 30-Sept. 3 period from the record of six cases on Aug. 23-27 and four on Aug. 16-20.

Barangay Bool closely followed with 21 cases, and Dao with 17 recorded on the Aug. 30-Sept. 3 count as the peak week.

The province-wide count from 943 as of July 24 rose by 208 cases after 16 days or 1,151 as of Aug. 9. It then rose by 185 in 10 days or a total of 1,336 cases as of Aug. 19 of which Tagbilaran City has contributed 294 — the highest.

The rate further slowed down to 76 cases in 25 days for the period, Aug. 19 to Sept. 13 from 1,336 to 1,412 cases.

The Provincial Health Office attributed the improvement of the situation to the massive information campaign and the interventions such as the elimination of breeding places of mosquitoes, observance of the 4 o’clock habit, and prompt action on suspected patients.

The provincial government sent out all its employees on Friday afternoon to barangay Cogon to lead residents in the general clean-up drive, where they destroyed breeding places of mosquitoes by emptying receptacles that collect rainwater.

Governor Edgar Chatto called the activity as “keep dry” drive also aimed at raising the awareness and projecting the significance of community involvement in the fight against dengue.(PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Recently two Americans had come down with Denge here in Bohol. One stayed in COOP where they said they really enjoy the care they received there.

The other is a member of the LDS Church and is her from Arizona state doing a two year mission term here in Philippines. This particular individual did not go to any church and relied solely on prayer and water method with bed rest. Both Denge victims are doing well now.
