'Kidnapping' and 'vote-buying' marred the municipal SK federated elections last Friday.
It is said that these young leaders are tossed to engage in dirty politics that tainted the election of the municipal SK federation officers.

This grim reality reflected in the conduct of the election of the municipal SK federation officers last Friday wherein most of the barangay SK chairmen in different towns were "kidnapped" but no ransom.

Instead they were given vote-money and herded in a resort or hotel so that the opponent has no way to do the same, said a former barangay official.

The same is true with the situation of the municipal federated Liga ng mga Barangay as reported last Friday.          
Like the barangay, those elected presidents in the municipal SK federation entitles them to sit as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan of their respective municipalities.

The next election will be on December 10, 2010 where 47 municipal SK federated presidents plus this city will gather here to elect provincial federation officers to be led by its provincial president.

Whoever will be elected as SK provincial federation will enable him/her to sit as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to succeed Jane Censoria Cajes.


Once an SP member, the SK federated president will have all the privileges and perks, such as office, staff of his/her choice, transportation or representation allowances or brand new service vehicle, accorded to him/her as that of a regular SP member.

List of all the winning municipal SK federated presidents is still unavailable as of press time yesterday afternoon in a check with the provincial Department of Interior and Local Government office.

In the city, Mary Liene Shaene Karaan was elected as SK president. She is the daughter of Punong barangay captain Arlene Karaan, of Poblacion I.

Other municipal SK presidents are Ricardo Briones of Baclayon town; Marvic John Legaspi, Sierra-Bullones; Ma. Carmel F. Ckaros, Tubigon; Nina Fatima Mahusay, Talibon; and Mel Jorence Tanjay, Ubay. - Bohol Chronicle
